Celebrating The End Of The Summer At The Presidio Picnic

The Lodge At the Presidio is located at the northeast edge of the Presidio’s Main Post. From the Lodge you can see the towering Golden Gate Bridge, to the east the city of San Francisco rises above the horizon, and to the north the sailboats race across the bay. The Main Post is where the Presidio began and today it is the center of cultural attractions, events, and a spectrum of entertainment and educational experiences.

One of San Francisco’s favorite events is the Presidio Picnic which takes place every Sunday starting March and ending in October. The Presidio Picnic is more than a celebration of food and dance, it is a statement of San Francisco’s encompassing diversity. The city’s food trucks line the Main Post and the flags and frisbees fly in the afternoon wind.

Today is the end of October and the season is closing with a heartwarming performance by the Manuia Polynesian Revue. The repertoire includes music and dances from Samoa, Hawaii, Tahiti, Tonga, New Zealand, and other South Pacific Islands. The beautiful dance group performs against the backdrop of the stunning San Francisco Bay and the crowd and the dancers capture the October sun and the city rides a wave of joyful celebration.
