The Inn At the Presidio is located close to the bottom of the Presidio’s largest watershed and is surrounded by forests of redwoods, oaks, eucalyptus, and pine. Step out of the back door of the Inn and you are on the “Ecology Trail” ready to wander through miles of park trails. The trail passes through tunnels of towering forests and then emerges to grasslands with views of Andy Goldsworthy’s Wooden Spire and stunning views of the San Francisco Bay at Inspiration Point Overlook. It is remarkable that in the busy city of San Francisco that you can disappear into a magical forest and only occasionally pass other hikers on the trail with their families, friends, and dogs of all sizes.
There are hundreds of hikes that you can compose with the assistance of “Presidio Trail Maps”. The Ecology Trail isn’t just a short little hike… it is the entrance to 24 miles of adventures.
